I Love To Lather My Hair Up With Dioxane And Sodium Laureth Sulfate!

So I think we all know that the products we use on our body to stay clean and look good have an ingredients list full of words most can't even pronounce. That is mostly because they are crazy chemicals and neurotoxins eating away at our brains! Fun! So I have a really good online site that I use when on the hunt for a product that is virtually toxin free. It lists most commonly used shampoos/conditioners, makeup, deoderants, ect. and will rate them on their toxicity. It's a very thorough and useful site. Go ahead! Look up your most loved products and see how toxic they are. Some of them are sort of surprising.

What hair, skin (including makeup) products would you recommend?

Heidi, I should start of by saying I am very low maintenance when it come to "products". I usually just use the coconut oil as a conditioner before washing. For makeup I don't wear a whole lot but what I do wear is Organic Wear. For face wash and sunscreen we use Aubrey Organics. Hope that helps. I'm always on the hunt for better products so I try different ones from time to time.

Well, I am a walking talking Toxin apparently, Even products like Aveda have high toxins??? I don't know what to tell me because 1. i HAVE to wear deoderant or I am stink fest, 2. I thought by using products like aveda I was doing alright, but nooooooo..... 3. what do you use for shampoo? What brand of makeup? Is it really called organic wear? You prob don't wear deoderant do you... you are one of those girls who just lightly glistens.

LOVE YOU HEALTHY ME 123!

ok, so I am really interested in the aubrey organic stuff as well as organic wear makeup. I am not a huge makeup wear-er either, but I do wear bronzer for blush and my MAC makeup bronzer is bad apparently.

Aubrey sells deoderant. I wonder if it sucks.

That site FREAKED me out. Thanks for that.

Amy, I love you. Yes, Aveda sucks...I use it to and am trying to get rid of a huge bottle I bought forever ago. Organic wear is the name of the brand of makeup. I do not wear antiperspirant. In the winter I don't need to wear anything. In the summer I alternate between baking soda, baking powder and Tom's natural deoderant.

What does Jesse do for deoderant? Is that a weird question because it sort of feels weird asking it. :)

I might give Tommy Tom's a try... My college roomate, Becky, used it. Back in college I was even more clueless than I am now about being natural. :)

OH, I have a hair care line for Ethiopian hair to recommend to you! I just ordered some of the products today... A friend here who has 2 Ethiopian kids recommends them highly. It is Kinky-Curly. www.kinky-curly.com

I am pretty sure they are all natural and healthy and all that.

Jesse usually goes without in the winter. Seriously, he doesn't really smell in the winter. In the summer he will smell if he doesn't wear anything so he wears antiperspirant unfortunately. He is not as freaky about this stuff as I am. :)

Also, when I lived in Switzerland we used a lot of Weleda products. You can buy them in the states too but they are much more expensive. So if you are on a budget like we are they may be a bit too much.

Thanks! I too don't wear much make up, or use many "products". I do, use antiperspirant ...I live in AZ (summer almost year round:). I have tried using natural products, and when I did, I am sure you could smell me from where you lived. Yeah, it was that gross! I have very sensitive skin (just my face). I will look into the brands you listed, thanks.
